Halloween gives us a playful way to meet the season of longer nights: with glowing pumpkins, small rituals, old stories and a little silliness. These five free Halloween wallpapers bring that feeling to your phone and desktop, without a drop of gore.

Some of us love October from the first cool evening. Others feel tender as the light changes. Both are welcome here.

Choose the picture that feels most like your October. Let it remind you that darkness can carry warmth, memory and play.

How to download your Halloween wallpaper

Each design comes in free phone and desktop versions for personal use.

For your phone

For your desktop

And yes, you're allowed to change your wallpaper whenever your mood changes. October contains multitudes.

Pumpkin Porch Welcome

Friendly pumpkins wait on a little front porch, each with its own crooked smile. This one is for the part of Halloween that asks us to play again: to carve a face, light a candle and laugh when the result looks nothing like the sketch.

Think of one small thing you did for fun as a child. Could you give it ten minutes this week?

Midnight Window Cat

A black cat sits on a windowsill while rain taps the glass and a mug sends up steam. Black cats have gathered many unfair superstitions. Here, our watchful friend gets the best seat in the house.

Make a warm drink, stand by the window for one still minute and notice what the night is doing. No lesson required. Just look.

Moonlit Bat Dance

Bats loop around a full moon as if the sky has become their ballroom. Night has its own creatures, sounds and kind of beauty.

When you see this wallpaper, take one slow breath and let your shoulders drop. You don't have to solve the whole dark. You only have to be where your feet are.

Lanterns for the Ones We Remember

Halloween carries older layers beneath the costumes and sweets. Samhain marked summer's end and winter's beginning in ancient Celtic tradition.1 Our knowledge of its earliest customs is limited, though later traditions included remembering the dead.2 Halloween also grew alongside the Christian days of All Saints and All Souls, giving its history several threads.1

If someone is on your mind, light a candle safely and say their name. Memory can be small. It still counts.

The Cosy October Reading Room

A blanket, a stack of slightly mysterious books and a bowl of tiny pumpkin biscuits. This wallpaper is for anyone whose perfect Halloween plan ends before bedtime.

Pick a story, silence one notification and read for fifteen minutes tonight. Let the room settle around you. The year is turning, and you are allowed to turn inward with it.

Keep a little light nearby

Halloween has room for laughter, shadows, remembrance and one more sweet taken from the bowl. Choose the wallpaper that feels like good company for the season.

May your October nights be soft, your candles steady and your small ghosts friendly.
